I got this lens when I had my K100D Super in 2007 and it still produces good sharp images. I have used it on all of my Pentax cameras, up through the KP and it has performed well. That is why I still have it. Now that I think about it, it's the only lens I still have from my original K100.
It does have some issues, but I see no effect on the images it produces. In the interest of clarity, I will try to explain. Here we go:
1) There is a very small scratch on the coating of the front element. See picture.
2) The lens has a dent in the barrel that it got in a previous life. It does not affect the auto focus but if you pull the clutch back for manual focus you can feel a "lump" when you go past the dent. It will manually focus, just not smoothly.
3) There are various dings and scratches on the exterior.
4) There is some internal dust and maybe some haze on the edge of one of the internal elements. Or it may just be dust. It's very hard to see. Could have been there the whole I've owned it as I have not looked in with a LED before (only if I am selling something, just to make sure). It's not visible in direct sunlight but can be seen if you get a bright LED and get it at just the right angle.
5) The hood has a crack where it attaches to the bayonet on the lens. This just happened the other day. Maybe be able to repair it with JB weld or something similar. Or just shoot without hood as the lens is really compact with no hood.
If you are looking for a collector lens, this ain't it. But if you are looking for a road warrior that still gets it done, you are in luck!
