I almost always ask for a lesser price from the buyer, unless the lens is priced lower than it's worth or right at market value, then I just pay asking price.
That's what the word "
firm" is for - if you don't see that, you should always feel free to ask for a lower price - politely. Of course, if people are feverishly PM'ing on the lens, asking for a lower price is silly and will probably get you bumped to the end of the line.
I think US citizens have a harder time with this - in this country, bargaining for a lower price isn't done as often. Usually, "the price is the price."
BTW, $160 for this lens in this condition is quite fair, IMO. I paid $135 for one with a slightly damaged filter ring.
