[SOLD] SMC FA* 80-200mm F2.8

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing

Item for Sale
SMC FA* 80-200mm F2.8

Asking Price
1650USD

Item Description
I've been trying to sell the lens locally here in Singapore but seems a bit hard to find a new owner for it. Inspired by Sam (ShadZee)'s recent sale here of the same lens, I decide to give it a try too

The reason to sell this lens: got a second copy a couple of weeks ago from a friend (who jumped to Nikon FF) which isn't in as good shape as my own. It's a gem lens, but don't really need two I guess. Decided to let my better condition one go.

The lens is in excellent plus, near mint condition w/ only one or two very faint light mark on the barrel (see photos below), some nicks on the hood and tripod collar, that's all. Glass is as good as new, works as new too. And best of all, it takes wonderful photos. If you are looking at this lens, you should know how good it is. It's the only zoom lens that I've ever used which might be even better than some good quality prime lenses within the range.

Here is the actual lens, what you see is what you get:

Had the lens for quite a while, got some good shots (imo) w/ it, although not many. Here are some quick samples I took w/ this lens and a K20D camera in JPG:

The smaller versions of these photos really can't show the potential of this lens, so I uploaded some bigger versions here. Hope it's alright w/ you guys

Those are great shots Frank. They do not only show the high potential of the glass, but of the seller as well.

Have no cash to buy the glass now though. Do you have your skill for sale as well?

Super images Frank, particularly the colour. I don't know what it is about FA lenses and bokeh cyan fringing though, they all seem to suffer from it.

Thanks

Can't speak for the others, but personally I do prefer the photos produced by FA* and FA Limited lenses. That's why I sold DA*1650 and 50135 for the two FA* zooms (2870 and 80200). For the wide end, DA1224 covers that range nicely

Hey Frank, any PP work done to these images, because they look superb. This is a beautiful lens.

Thanks Lee Actually I don't do much PP on all of my photos. Mostly just some level adjustment, add a bit of curve especially for landscapes, then resize and sharpen a bit. That's all. Each photo would take less than a min, otherwise I'd just delete it and move on to the next one.

Have to agree with you on the superior colour rendering from the FA*/FA Limiteds. A great lens from a Pentax guru.

Those ''from the park'' pictures no1 and no2 made me think of encounters in the ''wild''. You know, when I am very lucky I see a rabbit or a squirrel. And BANG there was that tiger.

Nice park, is all I can say!
