Picasa Web Albums - David - Zenitar 16mm ...

Condition note: I couldn't decide between good or excellent. I note some condition items below, but I don't see any optical impact of them.

I got this lens on eBay about 9 months ago. The focus was off at infinity, an issue I'd heard about before, but it was easy to adjust. It's correct now. My experiences with the lens are typical of those in the lens review, and I've enjoyed it tremendously. I found it to be versatile as a fisheye, wide angle and low-light lens. I am replacing it with a Sigma fisheye mainly because the Sigma focuses closer.

The lens has some odd scratches in the external finish, on the barrel in front of the focus grip, all the way around (see photos). I think it might have come that way from the factory, because I can't see how else those scratches would happen. If you're looking for great fit and finish, maybe a Russian lens is not for you.

It also came to me with two nearly invisible marks on the front element. I think these are out of the frame even on film. I have read that the coatings can be soft, so I clean this lens very carefully and infrequently. I haven't put any scratches in it myself, so maybe the coatings aren't that soft with reasonable care.

The focus ring turns smoothly. The aperture is snappy and oil-free. The aperture ring clicks at all the stops and half-stops. The clear filter is installed.

It comes with all the original stuff: box, manual in Cyrillic, filters and original lens caps. (The manual's translation is available on the manufacturer's site.) Shipping weight is about 1.5 pounds. Within the US, I can send it via USPS Priority Mail for $5. International buyers can use the USPS website to calculate their own shipping costs. I can probably figure out another carrier but have had no problems with USPS. If you're in the Denver area, I can deliver it myself or meet you for inspection.

Just a little bump. I'd like to add useful information but I can't think of anything.

A lot of views, no PMs, so I'm cutting the price.
