I don't think the price is to high I am wondering why you are selling it in the first place? I hope there is nothing wrong at home.

Pentax K10D

I love the camera, but, after doing my taxes this year, we owe about $2000. I would rather not sell the Pentax, but I need to pay the govt.

oh yuck - such a bummer... and if I had an extra $825 I'd gladly help you pay the govt.

had I the money I'd pick it up Wednesday on my way to Pennsylvania to visit my folks. but alas... I can't justify that. I'm sure you'll find a buyer soon though!

it's bit pricy..i guess

amazon offers $810 for "new" k10 body.

I am not telling you that you offered high price for it.

But if you just pay $10 more, you can by actual "new" k10d,

not "like new" k10d. I think $800 was good offer like a month ago.

If you have a bundle lens with that, that's totally different story though.

Smashed Pie - You have made it impossible for me to sell my camera now. Is "price policing" allowed on this forum?

Technically, no. Members should only post a notice if the price is so high it can be considered a "rip-off."

The moderators and I will discuss this further and maybe add some additional posting rules.

But didn't you partly prompt this type of response by posting this very same question yourself?

When you posted this question, what type of response did your expect?
So a "No" answer to your question would be OK with you; while a "Yes" answer with backup evidence would not be OK and would become "Price Policing"?

Frankly, Smashed Pie may be helping you sell your camera, not vice versa. Unlike apparently many eBay buyers, people here tend to be quite aware of current prices on new and used gear. If you priced yourself out of the market, wouldn't it be best for you to know right away, instead of waiting for offers that will never come, while prices may be going even lower?

Anyway, that's just my $0.02, which I hear you can get for $0.01 at discount outlets out there.

You seem like a nice guy but it can be found under $800 from reputable dealers brand spanking new I am afraid.

I can vouch for rrobinson as I dealt with him a couple of times on FM. He is an honest seller/buyer. IMO if you think the price is too high, then you should contact the seller via PM rather than posting in his thread.

Mo,

I'm afraid I have to throw my 2 cents in on this. This is one of the best communities on the net of people helping people. You are not making money on the sale of items but offering people a chance to exchange items. If someone put a FA 77 Ltd up for $50 I would expect people to jump in and tell them they are to low because that would be the right thing to do. Conversely I would also expect people to warn others about something being over priced. We are on this site to help each other are we not? If this were a commercial site things would be the usual "Buyer beware", but this is a community or at least I hope it is.

I just bought an 85 f1.9 from KEH only after Carpents was kind enough to inform me what he thought a fair price was for this lens. I appreciated that info and hope people continue with this kind of helpful attitude.

So IMHO if you are going to post any further rules they would be along the lines of if you try to overcharge, somebody will nail your scankie arse to the wall.

Regards,

I think for someone to get interested its gotta feel like a crazy good once in a lifetime deal. Maybe you'd haave better luck on ebay. things get crazy there!

good luck.
