Jay! What a good deal you are giving to anyone needing those lenses! I don't have a need or I would have jumped on a couple. Sorry to see you letting go of the J-9. You gonna miss that lens...

Steve

BTW...a little oil on the aperture blades is quite acceptable for a J-9. They come that way from the factory and it is not an issue since the aperture is fully manual.

Thanks Steve, yes, from what I've seen oil is pretty common on those. This is
actually the 2nd J-9 I've owned, and when Spring arrives I'll probably be lusting
after another.

Homage to the Vivitar 28 Close Focus

Having got mine at Jay's instigation, I figured I'd do a quick-and-dirty homage. Not that I can compete with Jay's photos...

Espresso, anyone?

The Viv 28 Close Focus Takes It's Self-Portrait:

Nitpickers be conscious: limits to IQ are due to IKEA hallway mirror, not the lens (see orig at www.zooomr.com/photos/davidwhiteley and you'll see the artifacts I mean).

This is far and away best IQ : Price lens I've ever bought. Someone should snap it up.

I know. I can't believe this has lasted this long. If I didn't already have this lens, I would have snapped it up in a second!

Thanks, Mr Whiteley! Yes, it's one of those lenses that brings you keeper images
all-day long. Very glad you're enjoying yours.

Here's a test shot from the Vivitar 28 2.8 close-focus:

And here are a couple non-macros from the A 50 2.8 from today - It's a
high-resolution 50mm, not just a macro, and does a great job on infinity focus, portrait, etc.

f/5.6, uncropped, followed by crop:

f/8 uncropped, then crop

f/4.5, uncropped, cropped:

(So you need to tell your models that your portrait lens is too sharp, but you'll blur out the pores in PP! )

UPDATE: Buy the M 135 f/3.5 or Vivitar/Komine 28 2.8
Close Focus and I'll throw the A 50 f/2 in for an additional $10, if you so desire.
The A 50 f/2 is in exceptional shape except for that filter ding.

I suppose I should show some shots from the A 50 f/2:
