[SOLD] SMC Pentax-FA 28-105mm 1:3.2-4.5 AL [IF] Like New in Box

The lens has been sold

Selling a like new condition Pentax FA 28-105/3.2-4.5 AL [IF] lens (silver version). The lens is barely used since bought, and still in mint like new condition in retail box. There is no mark or scratch inside and out, on barrel or hood or the glass. The glass crystal is very clean, no hazes, scratches or fungus. Only one or two tiny dust inside which won't affect picture at all. The zoom ring turns smoothly. The aperture ring shifts well in position. Aperture blades are clean like new and free of oil.

This lens is considered as one of the best wide zoom lenses Pentax (or any other manufacturer) ever made. It features Aspherical Elements (AL) and Internal Focusing (IF), and of course it has the latest Pentax ghostless coating as well. It's rather fast and sharp, distortion and flare control are great too. The lens is also quite small, light and compact as a wide zoom lens. A great walk-around lens. Works great on Pentax latest DSLR *istD/Ds/DL/K100D/K110D/K10D) too.

You can find some reviews about this lens here at Stan's website:

Pentax FA 28-105/3.2-4.5 Lens Comments

* f/Stop Range: f3.2 (4.5) - f22 (32)
* Minimum Focus Distance: 0.5m
* Groups/Elements: 11/12
* Magnification: 0.19x
* Length: 66mm
* Maximum Diameter: 66mm

Asking for US$200 w/ free air shipping to any country. I think this is a reasonable price given the condition of the lens and air shipping cost included (insurance optional).

Please send me PM if interested, or just sent me an email at wfengmail @ yahoo . com

Thanks and cheers!

Here is the actual lens and its accessories:

recommended seller!

I can vouch for Frank as an excellent seller. I bought a 21mm limited off him and when he said it was like new he wasn't kidding! I've got a lot of use out of that lens, so thanks Frank!

I'd actually be interested in the zoom as I fancy playing around with a zoom to have a bit more autofocus in that range (I'm also a prime person but figure a zoom could be good for figuring out which focal lengths I like best before blowing lots of cash). I investigated zooms and this one looks really good. This version doesn't come up that much on ebay as it is the newer version.

However, I'm currently in an unemployed spell and my 21mm and the A 50mm are superb lenses so I'll have to stick with them for the time being.

If anyone wants a good quality zoom in this range this lens is selling for £230 new over here, so the price looks very reasonable.

Hope someone snaps this up for you Frank. Are you saving for one of the new longer DA primes coming out later this year?

Thanks Kat Glad you like the DA21 (well, I wish I've kept it sometimes ).

This 28-105 is a good lens, very good walkabout lens actually...

I'd buy it in a heartbeat but 28 is just too wide. 24 I may consider but 28 .... damn ...... a real shame.

Well, actually I know many guys use some 28-75 or even 35-70 lenses as their walkabout lenses. For street, people or normal walkabout, we might not need wide angle as we thought

Am I missing something? 28 is too wide, but you want a 24? This range seems nice to me. It would make a nice walk about.

I'm thinking about it, but might just stick with my 28-300 as an everyday lens.

Jeff
I think Alfisti meant 28 was not wide enough

Optically, this 28-105 should be better than a lens like 28-300. But for general use, the 28-300 has better focal range

If you are concerned about VAT/Import Tax, we can work out some way to avoid or minimum that (just like I did w/ pentaxkat for her DA21 before)

Compare w/ the 24-90, this lens is even smaller and lighter, but feels more silid. And optically, it is probably as good as the more expensive 2490 at the same focal range.

Currently I have the 24-90 too, but haven't decided if I'm gonna put that one for sale as well ... Need to keep a good zoom lens before I get the newer DA* zoomies

Compare with the 1:4-5.6 IF lens

I have the SMC Pentax -FA 28-105mm 1:4-5.6 IF lens. How does that compare with this lens you offer to sale?

Thanks

I've never had that lens, but I think that one is produced by Tamron but w/ Pentax SMC coating. From Stan's Pentax Comment Site by Roland, optically the FA28-105 IF is not as good as the earlier PowerZoom one.

From Photozone lens survey result, the 28-105/4-5.6 (PowerZoom?) gets 2.95 score while the 28-105/3.2-4.5 gets 3.22:

http://www.photozone.de/active/survey/querylenstxt.jsp?filter=%22brand='Pentax'%20OR%20brand='Sigma%20AF'%20OR%20brand='Tamron%20AF'%20or%20brand='Tokina%20AF'%20or%20brand='Vivitar%20AF'%22

One thing for sure, this 28-105/3.2-4.5 is quite smaller and lighter than your 28-105/4-5.6 IF, and of course abit faster too.

Sell the 24-90?

Frank,

Would you be interested in selling the 24-90, and if so, for how much?

Thanks Flash. I haven't decided which one to keep yet: Sigma DC1770 or Pentax 2490. For now, I'm keeping both . But will let you know if I finally decide to sell the 2490

Cheers!
