Owning or having owned A*'s and M*'s for 67 and F*'s and FA*'s, my perception is that the A* and M* off-white exterior finish is the toughest, F* cream color is a bit softer than that and the FA* silver is the softest and easiest to scratch. Funny, the oldest finish is the better finish for ruggedness. Note that the scratches on FA* lenses tend not to expose bare metal as the others do, but only exposes the black primer underneath. That said, it appears that the FA* primer coat is quite rugged. So I guess someday all my FA* silver lenses will be black?

I went to ebay and looked through all the Pentax lenses and didn't see this lens listed, did you list it in a different area?
If you did you might have better luck listing it in the Pentax Lens section so people can find it.

Use search all groups function on ebay: Pentax +SMC

It's here:

Pentax SMC Fzoom 250-600mm F5.6ED - eBay (item 250376586561 end time Mar-01-09 10:32:02 PST)

Not a very good place to post it. There is over 26000 lenses in the catagory. I would have put it in the Pentax section for more bids and there is only 400 plus pentax lenses in that section. Most pentax users only look in the pentax section.

The only way I would buy that (If I had the money to burn) would be C.O.D.

I don't think ebay offers the categories like they used to, it's like everything is sloshed into the big "lens" pit and then you have to rely on good use of key words, plus you do fill in the little info section like this seller has telling it's a Pentax brand lens.

I did prefer the older format for ebay also, where you could see the clear delineation of categories.
