And the difference between this and the DG version? Only thing I've dug up is the DG one has a more coatings to prevent flare...
I think the DG version is close focus capable, this one is not.

I assume you are looking at the one for 600 euros?

This is a great price for this lens, especially as it appears to be in excellent condition.

This is known to be a very sharp lens. I have the EX DG (non macro version... at least I think there was a non HSM macro version made after the EX DG) and it is perhaps the sharpest lens I have ever possesed. The non macro versions are said to be the sharpest and they are truly professional level lenses.

So, someone snap this up so as not to regret it later.

That's it! LBA just kicked in.

I'm looking for something much better than the Pentax SMC FA 100-300mm f/4.7-5.8.

F2.8 through the whole range will knock your socks off, but it will be "slight" compared to 300mm.

Never really did use the upper range much, and am considering getting the sigma 1.4x teleconverter for fill in when needed.

Got to do more research on that though.

It's a GREAT lens!

I just was not sure if you were use to the 300mm end.

OH the lens I'm sold on (especially being the non-macro version).

It's the teleconverter I've got to research.

no research necessary, get the sigma 2x or 1.4x I have them both

look here for how the 2 x performs with the K10D. just remember the lens plus TC will over expose by 1/3 stops due to K10D metering

Wow,

I love that pird of prey shot.

Thanks for that Lowell, unfortunately I wasn't the guy who landed this lens, but I'll keep looking for deals and I'll definitely look at the TC.

Thanks!

Thanks

IMO the origonal version is the best of the sigmas. At least I have never had cause to want to get a newer copy.

the merlin (small falcon) is only about 10-12 inches high, and this shot is right out of the camera only resized to post.

I have seen merlins in the air in my neighbourhood many times, but this is the only time I have seen one sitting. got 10-15 different shots
