Does the 17-35 come with a lens hood? Any comments about its image quality? Is it a DG (for digital)? Where in the zoom range does the lens go to f/4? The net is sparse on details. If I can sell more stuff locally, I might be interested
Hey Ryan, unfortunately I don't have the hood for the Sigma, just the original front/rear caps and an 82mm UV filter for it. f/4 is at the long end of the range obviously but I'm not sure at which FL it goes there... if I get a chance I'll try to mount it on the K10 and report on that.
Quality is quite good - wouldn't say breathtaking - but very good for a wide zoom at this price point. This is a full-frame lens and - probably goes without saying - 17mm is especially fun on a film/FF body. On the K10 it's a little wider and faster than the kit lens. KEH sells these at or around $200 in the various mounts.
There have been a couple versions of this lens - this is the Sigma EX Aspherical with the 82mm filter. There's at least one newer version, full frame but digitally "optimized", with a 77mm filter size. There may be an in-between version with a 77mm filter and the older optical forumla, but I might be making that up. Like a lot of wides, there's some softness in the corners that clears up nicely around f/5.6-8.
I'm including a generic UV filter for it, good for protection anyway, which is hopefully all anyone should need. You probably don't wanna buy an 82mm CPL for a $150 lens...
