Yes, this is pretty common, nothing to worry about.

Canon has a pretty nice 85 1.4, as does Nikon, but I think this is the best (AF)
85 from anybody.
Thanks Jay for the clarification. I think my A50/1.2 looked the same when closed down if I remember it correctly

Hi Denis, I think David was just joking

let's not drink too much cool-aid. canon has no AF 85 1.4, it's a 1.2, gold standard.

Ah, yes, correct, 1.2. Pretty soft wide-open, very good by 1.4.

'Gold Standard', though? - sounds like Canon-flavored Kool-Aid!

I keep thinking how nice some Spring portraits would look with this lens... with a lot of bright flora in the bokeh to make a wash of color.... Ack. Time to turn on the TV.

If not for spending too much recently and my new FA77L, I would have consider consider your FA*85.

If you keep longer until my funds back to normal, I buy from you......

If, as a seller, you don't want any questions at all, there is always ebay.
Actually I don't mind question like David's at all. As a matter of fact, I'm glad he pointed it out, other wise I wouldn't have noticed it

Here is another FA*85 some one else is selling:
Pentax A*85 and FA*85

You can see this FA*85 lens (on the right) shows the same shape hole when aperture blades closed down:
