I can't make out the f-stop range.

That would be useful information.

Bear in mind the lack of an aperture ring, though.

I have a question about this lens: If I mount the FAJ 18-35mm zoom lens (I know there’s no aperture ring on it) on a PENTAX LX or KX 35mm film SLR body, will the aperture stay wide-open, closed down or in between by default? And, how will be exposure metering affected on any of these situations? Has anyone tried this?

It mounts wide open and meters wide open. Since you have no way to control the aperture, I'm assuming it shoots wide open, have never tried it. It's a nice lens and works well on all these 'Crippled' K mount bodies :-)

Your question was interesting so I did a little research. Apparently this lens isn't as 'Crippled' as I thought. It can be used on some older bodies IF they have P or Tv mode for selection.

If it's like the newer DA lenses (also no aperture ring), It stays stopped all the way down when mounted on an older manual focus film body. I picked up a PZ1-P because of that issue a while back. Having something like a SuperProgram, anything w/ a "P" setting should be ok, at least in program mode. But a body where you can control the aperture from the camera body is probably ideal.
