Hi Lance,

I'm interested in moving to medium format in the next 12 months or so and I already have enough glass for the Pentax 645 mount. Selling this one makes sense in that it will go a long way towards funding the upcoming 645D body.

Will still keep a smaller K-mount kit with 300mm focal length being covered with my FA* 300mm f4.5.

Just seems like a good time to sell in that the aussie dollar being low means a better price if it sells in the North American/European market.

Makes sense. A good time to sell for the AU$, although any imported lens (which they all are!) will end up being in the same boat, ie dearer due to the AU$ drop.

Yeah all true Lance.

Would be nice if the economic meltdown would turn to another resource boom just to see our aussie dollar rise again. Just need to sell this lens before it happens.

If it's like here in Oz there will be limits on the item's value before import duties are imposed. Here it's $1000aud. I'd suggest looking up the customs duties website.

Dug for a while and the only thing I could find was people griping that getting custom duty rates was like pulling teeth :-P There's a fairly useless page on the usps site that basically says contact your customs office :-P
There's nothing online that would indicate how much they'd be...

I bought a $1500 lens from Poland and the seller clearly listed the price of the item on the customs form, but I didn't get any duties charges. Thats all the help I can offer.

Each country has their own custom fees.
I got information for Portuguese ones, that's why I normally only buy from EU...
