Sorry about that--they've had this list going of all the different Vivitar 28mm lenses (twelve so far), so that was more for the benefit of the person asking the question (jsherman999).

You can see the latest list here:
https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/510455-post199.html

...and as that thread is quite long now (and the nomenclature changed a couple times, so if looking for a list start from the end and work backwards to find the most recent list), the quick & dirty is "k04b" is an arbitrary designation invented by forum member rparmar (and adopted by many on the forum--and some off it I hear--since), to identify one particular variant. The "K" in that "k04b" is in fact an indicator that among the many 28mm primes Vivitar produced, that one has a K mount.

For anyone with the patience (seller or potential buyer) that thread has quite a wealth of information!

I had isolated the latest post with a list, but apprently there's a "master list" in post #160 on that thread, making this a K11--you can find that post directly here:

Trust me, all this crazy talk is good for your sale

Can you post additional photos? The blue line looks like a blemish on the front element. Would like to see a clearer picture. Thanks.

All right, all that messy Vivitar 28mm thread stuff is obviously in need of organisation, so I've gone and done it -- finally!

For the definitive list please see The Great Vivitar 28mm Bestiary. Thank you!

You scared me for a moment there! But it is on the list as K13 "Vivitar / 28MM 1:2 / MC / WIDE-ANGLE / NO. 22xxxxxx / Ø55MM". Made by Kiron and no doubt fine optics.

(It was previously known by at least two other numbers, hence the need for this clean-up.)

This is excellent, bookmarked. You should make a thread in the lens section introducing this.

Well, if it is like my K12 (according to the Vivitar Bestiary) it will require some surgery to fit on a K10 or K20 (and also a lot of other newer Pentax cameras). The problem is with a black flange on the back of the lens mount. I think the purpose of this flange is to protect the protruding aperture lever on the lens.

The problem is that this flange is too big to allow it to mate on many newer Pentax cameras. It is a simple fix that involves machining away part of the flange. I removed the flange from the lens and used a Dremel tool to remove some of the flange that was preventing it from mounting on the camera. Unfortunately, I do not have any before pictures. You can see in the picture below that the flange has been machined down - it used to be full height all the way around the lens. I touched it up with flat black paint, so it is difficult to see the repair.

Yep, it's an OM mount, not K mount.

This is just odd. You claim the lens to be clearer than your other lenses and don't know what camera it mounts on?
