Item Description
SMC Pentax FA 1:4 28-70mm AL (made in Japan) in good condition. Glass is unmarked, clear and clean, Pentax front and rear caps.
Price: Sold.

Zenit Helios-44-2 1:2/58mm in good condition with original front cap. Glass is unmarked, clear & clean. A bit oil on aperture blades, but doesn't affect operation and picture quality.
Price: A$20 plus postage

optically, there is no difference, they are the same.

mechanically, 44-2 has pre-set aperture (two rings), while 44M variants have standard aperture (one ring), and possibly A/M switch (depends on variant).

Good question. My guess is that 44M-4 is a later version.

well I took some test shots and was surprised by this Helios' picture quality. They are not as contrasty as that from a SMC Takumar, but hey you can't complain it at such a low price.

I can vouch for the Helios as well. You are a silly bugger for selling it. I see a serious jump in their pricing sooner then later.

Honestly I prefer the 55/1.8 Tak over my Helios 58/2 at larger apertures, but when stopped down and not shooting into highlights the Helios performs really well. It's the best $20 lens I can think of, really...

Here's a shot from the weekend, I think I had it at F/4 or F/5.6, diffused natural light.
