1. Tamron SP AF 90mm f/2.8 1:1 Macro non-Di

I struggled for 2 months between trimming Sigma 105mm f/2.8 1:1 DG EX or this lens and discussed the two in this lens thread.

Update: The pouch has some minor blemishes from the picture

Thanks,
Hin

If the Tamron sale falls through I might be interested in buying or trading my DA 35mm Ltd. for it.

Thank you for all the inquiries. Apology in not replying all PM for those on the waiting list. All listed lens are sold and shipped today. I will use this thread to document some caution steps in using the Photosniper for FotoPete before I close out the thread.

@FotoPete:

1. Always use Genuine adapter on the lens

The lens is heavy at 3.5 lb and even with the genuine adapter, I find the normal clip not strong enough to hold it in place. So be careful in mounting and dis-mounting. With tripod, I feel safer to mount the lens on tripod first, mount adapter on camera body and rotate the body into the lens on tripod

2. Always cock the preset ring to top position in aperture change

unlike normal preset lens, this preset lens works a bit odd. Without cocking the preset red knob to top, the aperture ring can't be turned easily and it will abruptly dismount from body if you force it. So I always turn the red knob to wild open and set aperture easily.

3. Focus in wide open aperture after previous step in setting the preset red knob to top

It will take some time to get used to the focusing knob underneath lens barrel. I can't focus easily at f/8.0 or smaller

4. Use the diaphragm release bar to stop down

tab it once and you will see the stop down with strong and fast recoil action.

5. Try to have one hand on the lens to reduce the stress on the m42 mount

When I hold the camera with two hands on the sides, the lens overall weight stresses the mount. I keep reminding myself to put one hand on the lens in reducing the weight/stress on the mount
Thanks,
Hin

Thanks for the detailed procedures! I love a good o_O lens. I read somewhere you said it uses a t-mount? Thats pretty interesting method of aperture preset.

Don't worry, I always use the underhand technique of lens support. One hand under the lens, one on the camera grip. (kinda have to, its manual right? )

Thanks again for the quick and thorough replies!
Pete,
