[SOLD] Pentax ist DS (body only) - low shutter count

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing

Item for Sale
Pentax ist DS (body only) - low shutter count

Asking Price
$200.00 or best reasonable offer

Item Description
For sale is a used Pentax ist DS (body only) with a low shutter count (4,969 actuations). The camera is in excellent condition with no major marks, scuffs, or scratches.

This was my first DSLR, and I only used it for about one year before upgrading to the K10d. This body has been in my bag as a back-up body and not used for 2.5 years.

It is in fine working order, and features that great, bright viewfinder that the DS is known for, TTL flash support, and great low noise images from its 6 megapixel sensor.

This is a great camera in great shape for those "old schoolers" out there who still like this generation of Pentax digital bodies; it would also make a nice starter camera for a child or student; or, it makes a nice backup body.

I just added a K20d to my bag and now my K10d becomes my backup body; this ist DS now must rotate out.

I will post some pictures by the end of the day. I've sold here before and have good feedback too!

If I don't get a good deal on a K100D or a K100D super, I'm definitely considering getting an *ist DS.
How I only wish someone would sell an *ist DS2!

DS vs. DS2

Gerry:
I can't quite remember for sure, but didn't the final firmware update for the DS essentially add the features that were on the DS 2? Adjustable auto ISO, etc.

This body has that latest firmware installed.

I have a buyer whose made an offer, and we're working to finalize the deal. If that doesn't work out though, you might check if I'm right about the firmware update to the DS and consider it.

Thanks,
Matt

I know the firmware update made it possible for it to take SDHC cards instead of just the regular SD's.
I really want the 2.5 inch LCD of the DS2.
I felt sorry that I let one (DS2) go on ebay. The person I was up against was just relentless and wouldn't let go of the DS2 too!
I guess that I just couldn't match what he was ready to shell out for the DS2.
To think that it had a low shutter count and complete with box and accessories!
Hmmmp!!! Silly me for being too stingy!!!

I know the DS2 had a 2.5 inch LCD vs the 2.0 inch of the DS.
The DS2 also had as an upgrade of a "continous AF" selection on the menu.
That is basically the main difference between the 2.
The DS2 became the last of the "*ist D" series and was the top offering of pentax before the "K" series of DSLR's.

Something's wrong with the pentax site.
I can't even access it.
Thye might be doing some site changes for the new K-7!
I bet you they are getting ready for it since I think it is now only counting down to 4 days!
Woohoooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's a confirmation from "just1moredave" about your suspicions about the DS having all the DS2 options after the firmware update except for the 2.5 inch LCD.
I guess you were right!
It's also because I can't access the pentax site!
