[SOLD] Tamron Adaptall PK-A adapter and 500mm f/8 Mirro lens

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing

Item for Sale
Tamron Adaptall PK-A adapter and 500mm f/8 Mirror lens

Asking Price
80 USD + 235 USD = 300 USD if bought together

Item Description
Tamron PK-A Adaptall in very good condition. Really clean and looks unused save evidence of being mounted. Does not come with front caps but I will pack it carefully.

Tamron 55BB Mirror Lens 500mm / 8. Has been said to be the best third party mirror lens that there is. I find it to be not tack sharp but just sharp enough to make impressive photos. Comes with front caps and hood. Has the tamron colors similar to the renowned 28-75. It's a nice lens but just tad too long for me The body is has some brassing around the name of the lens, but overall clean. The glass have two small nicks and has a bit of dust inside, but no scratches. The small nicks are arond 3 mm long and are hard to photo... sorry! The dust and two nicks don't show up in pictures and the lens is still showing good performance. There are light scratches on the center part of the lens but that's not an optical element, just a holder for the Mirror element behind it.

One thing I must mention about the hood is that I once dropped the part that screws into the lens, so now there is some sort of resistance when mounting and dismounting the hood. If you get a UV filter and remove the glass, and attach it to the hood ring, this problem would disappear completely, and actually fix the annoying fact that the hood ring often attach to the lens instead of the hood when the hood is removed, making it harder to flip the hood for storage. Does not come with back caps but I will pack carefully

Need to note that the A contacts does NOT work with this particular lens as the lens is a fixed aperture. I have tested the Adapter on my other lens and it works just fine.

Pictures soon...

For those with previous poor experiences with muddy, low-contrast, soft mirror lenses, I can assure you this lens is in a class of its own.

Here's an unsharpened 100% crop from my K20D:

And the sharpened full image:

Sharper than any 500mm lens I've ever used, prime zoom or mirror.

Just out of curiosity, what is the minimum focusing distance on this lens?
