Yeah, that sucks, but you never know when the PMs were sent or when the OP read them.

And in all fairness, if I was selling something this expensive, I'd be biased toward Brit based on a comparison of community post-count and join date. Nothing against new people, but that's how deals get done...

Almost a 10 minute gap in Pm's?

Something stinks.

Yep, not to mention Ukraine vs. USA, selling from Canada.

Discrimination on nationality base? Hmm, not good.

Hello everyone, hopefully I can shed some light on my decision as to who to sell my lens to.
First, let me say that I have made sales to members in Singapore, Turkey, Norway, US etc. and do not discriminate as to country of residence, nor do I believe that's what deadwolfbones meant. Based on my own experience I believe what he meant, was that there's much less of chance of an item getting lost in the mail within North America than if it's shipped overseas
I received a PM from wiseghost saying that he was interested in buying the lens.
So, I check out wiseghost's public profile and discover that he/she just joined the Forum in July 2009, has no feedback score and his/hers only post to date is regarding the purchase of my lens.
Folks, I have no idea who wiseghost is, he/she may be the best person in the world but this is my lens, purchased with my hard earned money and it's worth 650 USD and I'm not willing to take a chance on selling it to a member who joined this month (perhaps even today, I don't know) with no feedback and who's only post is to me regarding this lens. I may take a chance on a $50.00 lens, because everyone begins at zero feedback but not on a $650.00 lens.
When I wrote back to wiseghost I simply told him/her that the lens was sold, I should have given an explanation for the decision.

On the other side... it also depends on how the deal gets done. If the buyer pays everything first, and the item gets shipped through registered/express mail... how high would be the risks ?

But, for sure, it's also "simply human" to have more confidence in a forum's veteran than a newcomer (I should increase my psot count ).
