PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing

Item for Sale
PENTAX FA 100mm 2.8 MACRO 1:1

Asking Price
375$ US

Item Description
I am re listing this lens. You can see that there is a SOLD thread with the same lens.It was not sold,I closed the thread due to the tone of another member posts.I didnt like some of his/her comments.

This lens was purchased by Me,in person from the original owner, locally.Paid cash in hand.IT doesn come from EBAY,has not been sold before in this forum or any other marketplace.
This lens is in Perfect condition in all regards,EXCEPT,for a minor cosmetic issue. The previous Owner, perhaps making a bad decision,,Glued the Front cap cord,to the lens body, and you can see a little bit of the glue,in a small area.
Besides this issue the lens is like New.

A beautiful lens.Extraordinary build quality and performance..You can adjust friction of the Focus ring ,for manual or AF performance,Or limit the AF range to your needs.

It comes with both caps, and original soft case.

The close -up detail of the lens cap cord attachment,is about 1/2 inch.Yet,it can be considered a small cosmetic defect.I have priced the lens slightly below the selling price of another copy sold here last week.Price now includes shipping in the USA...thanks

No interest in the lens?...I thought the 100mm 2.8 Macro was one of sought after lenses made by pentax..Is my price too high?..I though it was LOW!!.. looking at ebay you see some of these lenses in the 500$ range..Few sell at that price, but still!...This lens Has a very nice feeling to the focusing ring, that needs to be experienced !

Mayoapo, I think the price is fine and the lens is indeed sought after. People are just a bit frugal these days I bet it will sell in a week at most... If I had the cash I wouldn't be able to resist all the possible shots I would get with this lens!

I'd trade you mine for your FA 35mm...

Honestly though folks, this is an absolutely FANTASTIC lens. Seriously, it makes brilliant colors and is sharp as a razor.

Focusing is pretty fast (after I learned how to use it) in good light.
Built like a tank, focus limiter, great closeups, and it shoots great portraits.

Surprised it hasn't been snatched up yet. Better built and cheaper than the current D-FA model, which has about the same IQ. Absolutely my favorite lens, but it might see some less use now that I have my DA* 50-135mm.
BUMP!
*Andi Lo, that was no joke, I'm seriously considering trading! I REALLY WANT THAT LENS!!!!

100 macro.

Hi Mayoapo.
I am interested in getting a macro lens but am not sure what the difference between the FA 100, and the D FA 100 is. Can anyone enlighten me?
Thanks.
James.

jamescp...I have no experience with the D version, but for what i have read,Including the post previous to yours,The image quality wouldnt dissappoint you with either model..The D version is lighter,The Older FA more solid ,perhaps better build...The one difference that you can really see right away is 200$ in the price tag!

Thanks Mayoapo.
I guess what I wonder is , is the FA made for a full size sensor and the D FA for a dslr sensor and will the DA be a 150 lens as opposed to a 105. Does that make sense?

D FA generally indicates "full-frame but optimized for digital (APS-C)", usually optimized via coatings, etc. I think the D FA lenses also have quick-shift, while the FA ones don't.

They are definitely both Full frame lenses,of the same aperture and focal lenght..There is definitely cropping of the image when used in DLSR,but this happens with ANY lens..If you mount the basic 18-55 in a film camera,You will see the WIIIIDE angle of the lens, yet in DSLR this effect is cut by the sensor size..same happens with a 100mm macro...FWIW,the center of the image, that you will obtain in the DSLR sensor,Is probably the best part of it,As you will be cropping away all the aberrations and distortion, that are present in most lenses in the edge of the Field of view..mostly With super wide lenses anyway, that can produce even some vignetting in Film..A 100mm macro like the FA,or the D,are very well corrected designs, and the Image suppose to be Sharp all over the Field...

I think the Quick-Shift feature will allow you to shift from manual to AF with On-Camera operation,This can not be done with older lenses...
