I have the lens and like it a lot. The length is short enough not to be a problem when mounted on the camera with my camera bags, Tamrac Messenger 4, and LowePro AW 200 Slingshot. My only wish is that I had the version two model with the tripod mount. I would never sell mine.

Ok, now you made me make a trip to the local bird place - Wakodahatchee Wetlands. Not all were taken there though. All were taken handheld.

I have one and love it

My photography skills are horrible

This lens is definitely capable of something much better

Another recommendation for this lens!
By now it is one of my "take-anywhere lenses" it is very light and compact for reaching 400mm and performs well at 400 when stopped down (and is good open till around 300). Unfortunately it is not in production any more for Pentax and not easy to find.

I wrote a review about it and tips which tripod collar fits on it here:

You should be able to use the 8% bing cash back to reduce the price a bit.
