[SOLD] Legendary mint pentax smc takumar 85-210mm f/4.5 m42, rare!

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing

Item for Sale
Legendary mint pentax smc takumar 85-210mm f/4.5 m42, rare!

Asking Price
$160, now reduced to $150!

Item Description
This is one of pentax takumars' legends.
In 《The Ultimate Asahi Pentax Screw Mount Guide 1952-1977》, the author listed seven the most legendary
lenses in takumar time.
Just for your references, those are
1)SMC TAKUMAR 1:3.5/15mm
2)Super-Multi-Coated TAKUMAR 1:1.8/85mm
3)Super-Multi-Coated MACRO TAKUMAR 1:4/100mm
4)Super-Multi-Coated TAKUMAR 1:2.8/120mm
5)SMC TAKUMAR-ZOOM 1:4/45~125mm
6)Super-Multi-Coated TAKUMAR-ZOOM 1:4.5/85~210mm
7)Super-Multi-Coated TAKUMAR-ZOOM 1:6.7/135~600mm

This lens is one of them, which is listed at the league
as 85mm 1.8 and 15mm 3.5....

I aquired this lens from a collector. This lens is in mint
condition. Glasses are flawless, free of scratches, fungus
, cleaning marks, etc. Mechanicwise it is perfect. Cosmetically I can rate it as 9.9/10 (Details see picture).
Blades are clean and free of oil. Only tiny tiny dust inside.
All in a word, this one is like new and rarely used.

This lens is truely at collection's value. But more than
that, I took some test shot and this lens is sharp even
wide open. Colorwise, typical takumar!

This is the first zoom lens made by pentax.
I am asking for $160 but I believe the true value of this
lens is far beyond than that. The only reason to sell
this is to make some quick sale to fund some recent
purchases. And I must admit that I have never used
it after purchase. So I have to find a new home
for it.

This lens will come with a free 49mm UV filter (always attached),
front and rear genuine pentax cap.

BTW: I am looking for a good condition 43mm. You are welcome

Sure. Let me take some today and post it here. Frankly speaking, I never used it before.

Here you go! Those pictures are taken just couple minutes downstairs.
Exposure time is around 1/125 seconds. In 85mm end and 210mm end,
with aperture wide open.

I suspect camera makers disseminated this misinformation when new zooms were introduced. In my experience, unless you're spending big bucks on a high-end zoom, old zooms are much better than modern ones. All the Pentax-K and Pentax-M zooms I've tested were superb, including the K-mount version of this lens being sold here.

I have to agree with Miserere, I own a copy of this lens, it's incredibly sharp, contrast and colour are superb and at just 705 grams (1.55 lb.) it's also very light.
