[SOLD] Vivitar 500mm Multi-Coated Mirror Lens, M42 Screwmount

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing

Item for Sale
Vivitar 500mm Multi-Coated Mirror Lens, M42 Screwmount

Asking Price
$60

Item Description
Up for sale here is a Vivitar multi-coated 500mm f/8 Mirror/Catadioptric lens, in native M42 screwmount (not T like many others). It is in excellent condition with front OEM and rear generic caps. The only sign that it is not brand new is a few tiny specs of dust, and a little wear on the mount from mounting/dismounting.

Here are picture of the actual lens for sale:

The lens is soft and dim, but that can be said for just about every mirror lens besides ones that cost $500, the only notable exception being the Tamron 500mm adaptall lens which I also have for sale. For $60, you can't beat the reach that this gives you. As long as you have plenty of sunlight and a little patience, you can squeeze very pleasing pictures out of this lens.

Here are sample pictures I just took at random. Actual subjects would look even better

M42 mount and fixed aperture means easy use on just about any camera, by any maker, film or digital.

Looks like a nice lens. The pictures look pretty good as well.

Can you provide approximate dimensions for the lens, or maybe a picture with the lens mounted in a camera?.

I like the long focal length, but I just got rid of a Celestron C90 1000mm f/11 because it was too big to carry around. I am trying to see if this one is a better compromise.

Thanks,
CAS

Hi there! It is approximately 4.5" long and 2 3/4" in diameter. It accepts a 67mm filter/cap. It is very lightweight, probably less than 10oz. Trust me, I've seen your C90 1000/11 and this lens is much, MUCH smaller in comparison. I'll get a picture of it mounted on my camera in a little while. Thanks!

You mention a Tamron Adaptall in your comments above, but I can't seem to find a listing for that one. Do you have it for sale? If so, do you have pictures, does it include the adaptor, and what is the price, please?

Thanks,
Ed Green

Yes, I'm also selling that lens. Here is the thread:

The thread includes pictures, and the lens does include an adapter. Thanks!
