Item Description
I seem to have left myself without a wide angle lens in Pentax mount. I fully realized this the other day when I wanted to shoot some architecture for a city photography project, and found that I'd have to use my kid-shooter (D90 + Tammy 17-50.)

I want wide angle for my K20D. Thought the following might be tasty to someone:

SMC-K 24 f/3.5 + SMC-K 35 f/3.5 + SMC-K 135 f/3.5 for your DA 16-45 f/4, straight up.

Three excellent and somewhat hard to find K-series primes. Kinda like Limiteds from the pre-Limited days - the 35 is known as one of Pentax's sharpest lenses, and the 24 is a superb widish walkabout in a small package. The 135 on DX gives you a sharp, easy to focus precision 200mm equiv telephoto in a small optic.

Did you PP those crops of the 24mm? That is some of the most painfully sharp images I've ever seen a lens produce.

That's in-camera sharpening on the jpegs (bright mode, fine sharpening +2)

Hopefully you mean painfully good

I'm pretty sure that was F8, so, yeah, a Pentax K prime as good as the 24 is going to make your eyes bleed in that situation.

The indoor stairwell shots were either f/3.5 (wide-open) or stopped down one from that.

That K 35 is even sharper than the 24.

And wait 'til you see the 135 shots....

That would make for a great shootout, although I'm pretty sure the verdict would be "too close to call."

BTW, you should throw that Viv on more! (I should talk tho)

Thanks, but were you looking at the 24 or 35 shots? The crops are from the K 35 (see where the lens label changes in the photos.)

The 24 is exceptionally sharp at f5.6 & f8, but the K 35 is one of Pentax's sharpest lenses, and probably is sharper overall than the DA 35ltd macro.

The 24 just gives the most pleasing results on walkabouts. I have a S-M-C Tak 24 3.5, which is why I feel like I can let it go. I also have an SMC Tak 35 3.5, as well as the DA 35ltd, so the K 35 can go.

Of course, in a couple months I'll probably lose my resolve and scour ebay unti I find replacements. Thats the usual pattern.

Ha, I am looking for a K 35mm 3.5, too bad I don't have a 16-45mm.
Are all the 35mm f3.5 similar in performance ?

The K35/3.5 is a special lens.

It is said the SMC Tak 3.5 is the same optical formula, and I have owned both, but I would swear the K version is sharper than the SMC and the colors are sublime.

If for some reason I could keep only one lens . . .

In fact, I own all three of these lenses and I'd have to be hard-pressed before I could do what Jay is doing.
