I have one.
Mine is very, very clean. No discernible paint loss on the barrel and it was cleaned and calibrated this summer. Distance scale in Meters. Silky smooth focus. Absolutely gorgeous.

I like to use it a bit on my "AP" and "S" models. I prefer it on those bodies, but this is what the lens looks like on a modern body with inexpensive film (pretty sure that is Superia 100 judging from the red saturation).
It is without a doubt my favorite Takumar. The 55mm f/1.8 Auto-Takumar Zebra is a close second.
