Item Description
For sale is a very rare Tomioka-Yashinon 60mm f/2.8 Macro lens in M42 mount. This was one of the only (if not the only) lenses to go to 1:1 macro in the M42 mount. It's razor sharp from wide open and a real performer all around. This lens got me one of my very few PPG acceptances so far, and you can see more from it here.

This copy is in somewhat rough condition. The glass is clean and clear albeit with some dust, but the body is showing its age. There is a large dent in the filter ring which prohibits the use of filters and which has also somewhat loosened the outer pre-set aperture ring. The ring that sets the minimum aperture works perfectly, but the secondary ring that travels from max aperture to the preset min. aperture has a very "light" feel--sort of flimsy. As is typical with this lens as I understand it, the aperture doesn't open up all the way at f/2.8, but rather has an odd star shape. The lens barrel is quite worn, but the focus is smooth as silk. No front cap, but the front element is recessed about 2 inches from the filter ring and it will be well packaged. Rear cap is included.

nice lens!

another 1:1 macro in the M42 mount is Kilfitt Macro Kilar 40mm f2.8
there are 2 versions: 1:1 macro and 1:2 macro.
1:1 macro version is very rare.

Very similar to Mamiya/Sekor

This looks to be very close to the 60mm M42 preset Mamiya/Sekor macro lens that I've owned i for years and think is very special. Great bokeh and fun to see what you are shooting with the preset aperture.

The dented front shouldn't be much of as issue as I've never used a filter--the glass is impressively recessed.

There's also the Vivitar/Komine 55mm F2.8 in M42 that goes to 1:1 macro. I love mine. One was for sale here a couple months ago, IIRC.

There's also the original preset Macro Takumar 50mm that goes to 1:1.

But yeah--there's aren't too many that do!

Free bump!

I'd have to agree that these macro lenses with the deeply recessed elements don't need a filter--it'd have to be so far in front of the element, that you'd lose some IQ and get some kind of flare or reflection anyway.

That is also my fav product shooting lens. But I am hunting something in the 55mm to 70mm (macro) range myself just to get a bit more working distance for jewelry shots and smaller items. 60mm is really ideal for my setup...have to ponder this one a bit. Hopefully it will sell before I can decide...hehehehe...I am trying to stave off a growing LBA lust these days.

I've heard nothing but good things about the Sigma 70mm.

And, well, this Tomioka 60mm is incredibly sharp as well.
