PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing

Item for Sale
Tamron SP90/2.8 Macro 1:1 AF

Item Description
Note that this lens is the most recent pre-digital version. Optically the same as the DI versions and with fully functional AF including the AF limiter.
Minimum focus distance: 29cm when unlocked or locked in the macro range; 45cm if locked using the limiter in the range to infinity (for faster AF response in non macro situations).
Reason for sale: replaced by Sigma EX180/3.5.
Item State: Excellent, but with a slightly damaged plastic screen above the focus distance scale (see pictures). Nota that this does not interfere with image quality nor mechanical functioning of the lens at all.

How good is this lens in the portret situations? Do you have some pictures to post?
I am specially interested in f2.8 shots.

One more thig - is this damaged plastic just a surface scratch, or is it broken?

I used it as a dedicated macro lens only.
Stopped down it's probably too sharp for flattering portraits. Wide open it's softer so it should be ok for portrait. Cannot help you with images though.

It's more than a surface scratch. It's a crack, but I cannot tell whether it's broken through as there is no movement nor are there any loose or missing parts. It really does not affect the lens in any way, but I'm showing it explicitely just to make sure that you see the lens as it is.

It was in the camera bag when it happened. Another piece of gear pushed into the lens at the spot of the crack. The plastic took all the pressure. It occurred during a transport when the camera bag was with other bags in the trunk of a car and the bags shifted. Since then I take care to pad my gear even more carefully.

However, I cannot emphasize enough that the crack doesn't interfere with optical nor mechanical performance of the lens at all. Except for this blemish that looks far worse than it is, the lens is in top condition. I wouldn't be writing this if it weren't the truth, since I cannot afford to risk my good reputation.

The reason I asked about the crack is that I am concerned about possible dust and moisture that could enter inside and do some damage. I am sure that the crack doesn't interfere with optical nor mechanical performance, but I don't know if this could happend in the future. I don't know lens design, and what can be expected if something goes in at this part of the lens.

The lens has since been with me on trips to tropical and wet Cambodia and dry and dusty Namibia. Neither climate has left any trace, so I gather the crack doesn't let anything in.

Bumping this thread because I want to give my lens a good home where it continues to be used to its full capacity.

Well, I prefer not to, but I'll lower the price another bit.

EUR 215 instead of EUR 225...
