Item Description
I had three lenses piled up that I got for what I thought was a good price, but they were totally unusable on my camera! Not knowing why, I looked around on the lens and noticed that the collar around the aperture lever on all three was a lot longer than on my lenses that fit on my camera. So, I got a dremel, filed down the collars, and now all three fit perfectly on all Pentax cameras, including my new K-x. The 135mm had a different problem, where it wouldn't stop down because of the non-standard aperture lever. That's fixed now.

Now, I am by no means a professional at this, these were all quick jobs. There are some errant marks from the dremel, but none on the glass. They all fit perfectly on cameras without and scratching/marking/damage or anything like that. The Vivitar 28-200 registers perfectly as an auto-aperture lens; the 35-70 lens has a Ricoh pin that does not register, and has been filed down; the 135mm Close-focus lens has had its internal aperture linkage removed, and the external aperture lever ground down. Again, the aperture on the Vivitar works perfectly as an auto-aperture lens, but the other two are usable fully-manually only.

Because of the grinding down of the extraneous bits, I've marked these lenses as "Damaged". But, you can clearly see from the images that the glasses are in excellent condition. The only real damage other than dremel work is that the Vivitar 28-200mm's filter ring is dented, and won't accept a filter. No fungus, haze, large scratches, large dust particles, etc.

I also threw in a Super Takumar 55mm f/1.8 M42 lens for this thread. There is a chip/small crack in one of the internal glass elements, as well as a dent on the filter ring and some brassing. It still takes excellent pictures, and functions perfectly.

The prices for the lenses are as follows:
SOLD Vivitar 28-200mm is $45
Access 35-70mm is $40
SOLD Promaster 135mm is $35
SOLD Super Takumar 55mm is $15

Here are pictures:

Access 35-70mm f/2.5-3.5 Macro Zoom lens:

Promaster MC 135mm f/2.8 Close-focus lens:

Super Takumar 55/1.8 M42 lens:

Additionally, here are some sample pictures I took with the Vivitar 28-200 macro lens, all at high ISO because it was a right crummy day out:

Some sample shots from the 135mm f/2.8 Close-focus/macro lens (which focuses down to 1:5 repro ratio):

A file works too!

I did this mod on a similar Viviitar with a file and it worked perfectly. It seems the collar is the only difference from the standard K-mount. It's quite a fast lens too.

Free bump ...

Sorry Wally, you are a week too late ... I'd been on the lookout for the 28-200 ever since reading this thread on dpreview:

Manual Focus Gem Discovered: Pentax SLR Talk Forum: Digital Photography Review

Finally one showed up on eekBay a couple of weeks ago, haven't had a chance to take it out for a work-out yet but it does fine indoors and feels great.

Vivitar 28-200mm and Promaster 135mm also sold! Now all that remains is the lovely and compact 2x (35-70mm) f/2.5-3.5 macro lens. I'll throw some sample shots with it up soon to help interested purveyors!

Pictures from the Access 35-70 2.5-3.5 lens. All taken at high ISO due to overcast conditions, so excuse blotchiness/noise. The lens focuses EXTREMELY closely at full macro, I dare say it's very near 1:1, not like most "macro zoom" lenses. Great sharpness and colors.
