It is with mixed emotions that I'm selling this lens. It was my first * lens and it is beautiful. Six months ago I never figured I'd sell this lens, but I got a great price on a K20 bundled with the DA* 200 and DA* 300 a few months back and there's no point in keeping both 200/2.8's.

The lens is in great shape. No marks on the metal body. One or two tiny scuffs on the rubber portion of the lens hood. Mecanically and optically, all excellent. No fungus, no scratches, trivial dust.

Having owned both the FA* and DA* 200/2.8's, I've come to the conclusion that the optical quality is identical. I've seen it stated on the net that the FA* is less prone to purple fringing, but I feel it's the same on both lenses. Therefore, the major differences between the two are as follows:
Aperture ring on the FA*, not on the DA*
Metal hood for the FA* (vs the plastic hood on the DA*)
Sliver body on FA* vs black on the DA*
SDM motor on DA* vs screw drive on FA*
Weather sealing on the DA*

Includes lens, hood, Pentax front and rear caps, nylon pouch, strap, warranty card and box. Please note that one of the push tabs to open the nylon pouch is broken. It still works, but is a hassle. I rarely (i.e. almost never) used the pouch so it didn't bother me. One side of box is torn.

I have the FA*300 and was considering the FA*200, but blew some cash on the FA*80-200 instead and now almost broke.

Thanks. I'd love the 80-200. When I first got my K10D a few years ago, I saw an FA* 80-200 for well under $1000. At the time, the thought of spending that on a lens freaked me out and when I finally got the nerve up to buy it, it had been sold. I've been kicking myself ever since.

I already have the A* 200 2.8, but would love the FA*, but I would have to sell the A* first in order to justify the purchase and I expect there is not enough time to get that done. Anyway, great lens, good luck with the sale.
