Item Description
This is a lens I was going to use with my Nikon D200 until it was sold, after realising I probably don't have the money to support two systems at this time

The lens is in excellent condition, with no visible marks on either side of the glass, and nothing visible inside. The fractal patterns you see in the front glass are just reflections off the stucco of my ceiling, there's no fungus or anything. There may be tiny hairline scratches on the glass but honestly I can't see any. I'm just saying it may be a possibility for full disclosure, and since this is a fairly used lens. The body is in excellent condition with some minor handling wear on the grip. No serious scratches or marks anywhere, but maybe a couple of tiny ones. It functions perfectly and takes great pictures. It comes with original front and rear Nikon caps; the front cap has a cap-keeper on it. It also comes with a 77mm UV filter.

Unfortunately, I don't have a Nikon camera to do the first request, and I don't have enough experience with Nikon lenses to answer the second request. I'm sure many other more experienced photographers have done similar things on camera review sites and whatnot, though.

IQ-wise, it's about as good as the 70-200 2.8 VR I, meaning, pretty doggone good. The new 70-200 VR II version has the new nano-coating and better corners on FX, and slightly better center, but less magnification at 200mm. But the new 70-200 2.8 VRII is something like $2400

Compatiblewith D300?

Hi,

I have a colleague who is buying his wife a Nikon D3000 for Christmas. I know nothing about brand "N" myself so I'd like to know if this lens has full functionality for that body?

Please send me a PM with your answer, if that's convenient.

Thanks,

Sig

Hi Sig! I'll just answer here in case anyone else has the same question.

The Nikon D3000 is part of the beginner/amateur series, along with the D5000, and the older D40, D40x, and D60 models. This means they lack an in-body motor. This lens will mount and take pictures perfectly on such cameras, but focus will have to be done manually.

Thanks for the info...

I'll pass it along. If he's interested in a terrific deal on an MF lens, I'll be back in touch.

Sig
