FYI to those interested in this optic....I visited the Pentax repair facility today in Chandler, Arizona and they freed the lenshood in about two minutes. So, this lens is perfect optically, mechanically and has very few blemishes on the silver finish.

I have a Tamron 28-300, Tamron Adaptall 300 f/2.8, Pentax 55-300 and Pentax M300 f/4.

Bloody hell Kerrick, it's not a fast 50 you know, please don't tempt me.

i was told that I would be the one to buy this lens, ended up going to somebody else, very disappointing... couldn't believe it happened to me, have all the money ready for the lens, now it's GONE!!!

I have the lens. It arrived a few hours late thanks to the post office, but at least arrived in perfect shape. I will post the results in the next few days. I have a very busy schedule but will compare with the DA* 300 by next weekend and post in the lens section.

Thanks Kerrick for such a great deal! I'm looking forward to not needing to use a pool lens and body any more.
