[SOLD] Promaster (Tokina) 24-200mm AT-X 242 AF lens - Mint

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing

Item for Sale
Promaster (Tokina) 24-200mm AT-X 242 AF lens - Mint

Asking Price
$115

Item Description
Tokina 24-200mm f/3.5-5.6 AT-X 242 AF lens,, mint condition in box. I would call it new except I took a small number of test shots with it around the house. I soon realized what I really wanted was the considerably more expensive DA17-70mm lens, which I have since purchased (to use along with my DA55-300).

If you generally prefer Tokina to Tamron or Sigma, as I do, then you know what to expect. This copy is labeled as the Promaster Spectrum7 AF24-200mm XLD for Pentax AF, which I purchased last month as New Old Stock in the box with caps and hood.

I like the results from this lens, and the Auto Focus works well too. It's a bit heavier than most similar lenses, at 685g including the hood. This generally didn't bother me, but some people don't like the weight. I think you'd be hard-pressed to get better image quality in such a wide focal range for anywhere near the price - The two lenses I'm using in place of it cost about 7 times as much!

Shots taken with lens

Here are some quick shots I took over the weekend with this lens on my K-x. The first is at 24mm, the second at 45mm, and the third is at 200mm, followed by a 100% crop of the 200mm shot.

Wait, wait... so this is a Promaster rebadge of the Tokina original? You 100% sure it's the same lens?

And if it is, you should probably still put Promaster in the title.

Promaster should actually be placed on the title and not Tokina and Tokina should be placed on the fine print as a "rebadge" or something and not the other way around.

Yes, it's the Tokina

That's the same thing I asked the sales guy when I bought it, but when I got home I looked it up online and I could easily see it matched the pictures of the Tokina. I've included some pictures of the lens and the box for those who are interested.

US shipping only for now

Any Americans interested? I have four people overseas with interest in this lens. If I don't have any US interest by the end of Saturday, I'll likely open it up to international shipping.

Lens still available

The lens is still for sale. I haven't tried to sell it for a month because I got busy with the holidays and work after that.

I didn't get any US buyers last month, so I'm prepared to ship it overseas now.
