Have you looked at the aftermarket Chinese mounts? Most of the ones I've seen were Canon copies but you may be able to find one that's the correct diameter and width.

Example:

DealExtreme: $12.71 YN Ring Style Tripod Mount for Canon

Thanks for the ideas. Not sure I would want to go down that route quite yet. The pentax tripod mount is not a full ring clamp, it is about 1/4 or 1/4 of a circle and screws into a rotating ring that is permanently installed on the lens. I'd rather have the real deal if possible.

Anybody out there have one?

Another bump. I'm going on vacation in a week, and would really like to get a tripod mount for this guy. I feel like i'm being forced into the purchase of a DA* 300mm F4 just for the tripod collar.
