[SOLD] Asahi Pentax Spotmatic SP (US)

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing

Item for Sale
Asahi Pentax Spotmatic SP

Asking Price
Shipping cost + $5.

Item Location
Santa Fe, NM

Item Description
For sale is an Asahi Pentax Spotmatic SP (s/n: 1382643) in fair condition. The film advance works, the shutter works, but there may be some problems. For one, I don't have a spare battery to test the light meter. For two, when the "SW" switch is pushed up, the shutter sticks until you push it back down. This may be related to the dead battery, but I'm not familiar enough with Spotmatic operation to know if that's the case, and I can't check, lacking the spare battery.

The camera body has its fair share of grime and some small dents on the prism (doesn't look like it was dropped, just scuffed somehow). The film advance is smooth, and the viewfinder, mirror, and film compartment are pretty clean. There is some dust on the focusing screen. As with most old cameras, the light seals and mirror foam may need to be replaced. A CLA is recommended.

Included: Camera, strap, sleeve-type case. No body cap, sorry.

Shipping: Free in the USA by FedEx 2nd Day or USPS Priority, whichever is cheaper.

Note that on the bottom of the soft case there is the early equivalent of a quick release plate for a tripod screwed into the tripod mount.

Not sure of the provenance of this camera, but if you have a vintage tripod around somewhere you might want to check if this belongs with it. My experience is that these are hard to come by once lost.

woof!

Come to think of it, there was a tripod in the case... I'll have a look.

Update: There is indeed a shiny chrome telescoping tripod that goes with that tripod mount on the camera case/sleeve. However, it's missing one of the feet and that leg can't be easily extended. I imagine you could fix this fairly easily, but I can't be bothered to fuss with it. Tripod can be included with the camera for $5 more (to account for the added shipping weight).

WOW, Ben, you did not list it last time when you were selling the takumar lens. Otherwise I would take it at the same time.
