About the Access P-MC 70-210mm f/3.5

QuoteOriginally posted by boingofan Quote

PM replied and lens is still available. This lens closely resembles Vivitar Series 1 70-210mm f/3.5 made by Tokina.
  • it is quite good in sharpness
  • constant f/3.5 throughout the zoom
  • contrast can be better if a hood is added
  • close up is about 1:4 but I have not confirmed
  • no zoom creep, 1-touch zoom, 62mm filter size, zoom quite easy to handle, good for MF
  • lens is small and lightweight as compared to v1 and v3 of Vivitar Series 1 zooms made by Kiron and Komine
  • good control of CA/PF in short experience with the zoom

All taken with Pentax K-x and Access P-MC 70-210mm f/3.5

About the Access P-MC 35-70mm f/2.5-3.5

Out of the lot, Access P-MC 35-70mm f/2.5-3.5 short zoom excels in IQ and fast speed. It is a two touch zoom in all metal build. Very solid in construction.

All shots taken with Pentax K-x and Access P-MC 35-70mm f/2.5-3.5

shot wide open in f/2.5

shot with HDR in K-x
I did it with hand-holding in HDR2

1/6 sec, likely in f/4.0, 35mm iso 640 with K-x

Kenlock 80-200mm f/3.5 Auto M42

I shot these wide open with K20D in iso 200-400 as it is close to sunset in Av mode. The lens has been drilled with a locking pin hole already, it is an easy m42 to K conversion lens.

Wide open shots are quite soft and I will follow up with more test shots after fixing the aperture pin for stopping down

K-mount locking pin hole in 4pm position

All test shots taken with K20D and Kenlock 80-200mm f/3.5 auto m42

1/100sec, 75mm, f/3.5, iso 320, 0 Ev

1/50 sec, 75mm, f/3.5, iso 320, +0.7 Ev

1/30 sec, 75mm, f/3.5, iso 400, +0.3 Ev
bokeh seems smooth and decent

1/320sec, 135mm, f/3.5, iso 400, +07Ev
ringed light circular

Kenlock zoom can stop-down now, lens is available

Call it good grief or luck, I manage to get the aperture blades to stop down. And I have altered the lens to have manual diaphragm (equivalent to setting M in A/M switch).

1/15 sec, likely f/5.6, 180mm, iso 320, 0 Ev (in macro)
Stopping down is both sharper and more contrast

I will add more pictures later.

Thanks,
Hin

Shameless bump. I am heading out with the Kenlock zoom to try it with more pictures. Stopping down is working great for the zoom. If you can stand the oily blades, this is a cheap m42 zoom to have at constant aperture f/3.5.

The Tamnron 104A adaptall-2 zoom is a great zoom to have, you can check current pricing in ebay that ranges from $75 to $260. My copy is in mint condition with a hard leather case.

Kenlock 80-200mm f/3.5 Auto M42 Stopped Down Test Pictures

More test shots are added to the Kenlock 80-200mm f/3.5 flickr set. The following are a few taken in f/8.0 and f/5.6 on K20D. The lens is reasonably sharp and bokeh is nice.
