[SOLD] FS - Pentax DA16-45/4

Hello all,

I'm selling my DA16-45/4 to be replaced by a DA*16-50/2.8.

The lens has accompanied me on two trips only (I mostly preferred primes till now) and was well cared for by me. On the trips it always had a polarizer mounted, so the front element was always protected and as such is spotless. The lens is working as new and shows no visible signs of use.

The lens will come with its original lens caps and full hood, in the original box. As it is out of warranty I haven't kept the warranty card so I won't be including that. The serial number card is in the box however. I can also include the manual, but since I only have the Dutch version please ask for it explicitly if you want it.

I am asking EUR 250 for it, excl shipping. This price will be for one day only. No sale tomorrow same time and I put it back in my lens archive for back-up...

I take Paypal and EU banktransfer (other bank transfers cost me too much, except if you will take these costs yourself, it should be around EUR 30 on this sum). Shipping is done to European Union, North America and Australia. Other destinations please check with me. My preferred shipping method is through Taxipost.

I have no pictures of it right now, but I will try to add them somewhere this week.

Any takers?

tx!! Wim

Dropped to asking price to EUR 300. Their being some discounters at the initial price. Of course mine is available immediately which may not be the case in retail...

Other bids are still welcome.

Final price drop to EUR 275. If it doesn't sell at this price, I'll keep it as a back-up...

Ok, I'm keeping it until the end of the week at this price. Then it goes back into storage...

I'll wait for the coming of the DA*16-50/2.8 and its reports. For now the hype surrounding this lens probably make potential buyers hold off?

I'm sure the DA* will be great. Hey that's why I pre-ordered one!! But I'm not sure all the pixel peepers will be satisfied by it. Some may not find it superior to the DA16-45/4 from an optical point-of-view and won't find the weather sealing, SDM and extra stop worth the extra cost. I imagine the market will be better for a DA16-45/4 then... and it may just go higher than the EUR 275 nobody seems willing to pay?

Anyway, that's what I'll do...

Maybe the problem you euro folk have is that it's so damned expensive that no one from North America is interested in the gear so your potential buyers are so limited. I don't think your price is high at all for a european buyer but sadly noth American buyer can get a new one cheaper than that so it's tough for you guys.

Us Aussies have the same problem

I know... Though I did sell my F1.7x AF converter to a North American buyer... but that's a different product of course...

I'm not yet in the give-away business. To be honest I hope I would be in future as that would mean good fortunes in the future!

Perhaps the DA*s will help me break through and make me world famous. Who wouldn't want my DA16-45 then...

Wim

When you are world famous I'd like a signed copy of the lens Lol. Alfisti is right, unfortunately for people in the EU the prices are high. I've seen many of these lenses sell for around $300 US. Maybe you'll get lucky in a market closer to home. It is a very good lens.

You can try to sell it in this german forum - the "Hardwarebörse" is the place to sell and buy there.

I am sure you already know that Pentax USA has been offering a $100 rebate on that lens through the end of today. That brings the price of a new lens in the USA to $300. For $300 you can get a new lens and warranty. I could not resist and ordered one yesterday.

Thanks! I'll try it there. But there's a Belgian forum I might try too. I just wanted to give the Pentax community the first go.

OK, I'm giving a one day discount to EUR 250! I feel generous today... Well, perhaps it won't look that way to our US friends...

If not sold tomorrow same time, I'm calling off the sale here for the time being...

First reports of the DA*16-50/2.8 seem to indicate it may not outshine the DA16-45/4 much optically, so it'll be only for people wanting the extra stop, WS and SDM... Should bring the DA16-45/4 back into the picture for many?

Ok, no offers, so I assume everyone is still waiting for the DA*16-50/2.8 reports.

I just had word from Tekade.de that they expect my money for the DA*s, which means their are ready to send them to me. Not selling the DA16-45/4 means I will get to test and compare both 16-XX zooms myself. If the mail man hurries, I might even be the first to do so, though I don't expect so...

Anyway, I'm closing the sale. The lens will come back in a few weeks...

Hi Wim

Maybe you'll decide to keep it and sell the DA*16-50, as it distorts quite a lot less at the wide end and it's also half the weight!

Plus, unless you have a 77mm polariser already, you'll need one of those for the 16-50, and they are big bucks for a decent one!

I might, but neither distortion nor weight were ever a problem for me, so I doubt it. On the contrary, I always liked to play with the distortion. My Vivitar MC 24/2.8 that I loved so much in my film days, has quite a bit of distortion but that never stopped me loving it's angle...

Already have the filters. Actually, I ordered them from the moment I decided to go for the DA* lenses. Both a polarizer and a R72 filter. The polarizer I have for the DA16-40 will fit onto the DA*50-135.

cya! Wim
