m42 to K mount convertor

Hello,
Any suggestions on finding an M42 to K mount convertor? I found an old lens and picked it up and realized that it wasnt k mount. It might be run to try some old lenses out, but I'm not sure I'd make it a hobby.

What I don't want is a cheap mount that will cause me grief. What's a good price point? I saw a new Pentax mount at BH for $100. Unsure if I want to go down this rabbit hole..

Regards,
Rodney

The original items are available in the UK for somewhat less than that, the problem being that the authorised dealers that list them, Bristol Cameras and SRS, don't export ... could be a "grey market" restriction or similar. Might be worth while digging around in the "Accessories" section of local authorised dealers web-sites and see if anything is hidden there

One of these will do well to check out using M42 on pentax dslr. ebay item 400957305893. There are even cheaper black anodised ones but I recommend the better finish and quality of this and similar ones.
Because this is a flanged adapter you won't be able to focus to infinity, but that still leaves plenty to go for, its with wide angle lenses that the focus range really dramatically reduces. These are easier to use and more reliable than the flush adapters like the pentax original one. Just screw it on and use the lens like a k mount lens (nb might not orient properly at 12o clock).

There is one for sale in the PF Marketplace (not by me BTW).

M42-PK and Asahiflex-M42 adapters - PentaxForums.com

Word of advice, based on my personal experience. Don't use any third party M42 to K-Mount adapters. Many do not focus to infinity and a few are extremely difficult (or impossible) to remove from your camera body, and and can cause damage to your camera body. But an actual Asahi Pentax M42 adapter. Expect to pay between $35 and $45 dollars. Yes, it's pricey for a small bit of metal. But it's a lot cheaper that ruining your camera because you are trying to save a few bucks.

And they retain their value so if you do not want to play with adapters you can resell for about the same amount as you bought for and have fun for a few dollars.

Rodney,
I have two Asahi Pentax M42 adapters that I would sell.
One has the spring clip removed (which some people find easier to use).
$35.00 for the one with the clip, $27.50 without the clip.
Plus $3.00 shipping

I have an original Pentax and a NOS Kalt (well it was NOS) and both are reliable. Good older units work fine but there is a lot of junk out there. The original Pentax unit is best typically.

@blumoon - I realized after purchasing another lens I needed the adapter! Got yours in the mail today! Looks great.

Thanks for now, I'm good after looking around!
