I'm looking for an M39/Leica thread mount portrait lens for occasional use.

Focal length should be between 75 and 105mm.
Prefer black finish with clean unmarked glass.
Price $200 or less.

Please PM with details if you have something of interest.

TIA,
Chris

I looked on eBay as I was curious. The only item without haze near your price was this one:

Sankyo Kohki Komura 105mm F/2.8 Leica L39 Lens, Rare From JP#3322 | eBay

Slightly above your price.

From personal experience I can highly recommend the 85mm f/2 Jupiter 9 … it's one of the reasons I maintain a mirrorless system as well as my Pentax gear
When I accrued mine, late in the last century, screw-mount lenses (and cameras to mount them on) were almost literally 10-a-penny … I suspect the price has increased significantly!
Good luck

An eBay seller in Japan sent me an offer for a Nikkor PC 10.5 cm f/2.5 LTM lens.
It's pretty nice but at $250 plus shipping it's a bit more than I'd like to spend.

Based on the other eBay items I saw that fit your brief - I’d jump on it.

The prices are quite high for useable ltm lenses. A Takumar paired with an ltm adapter could be the solution for you, couldn’t it?

I found a Jupiter 85/2 LTM lens within my budget, however I know there is a focus inaccuracy issue of Russian lenses on non-Russian LTM bodies.

I presume this effect would be even more noticeable with telephoto lenses.
Add to this the short base length rangefinder of my CV Bessa R camera and I am hesitant to take a chance...

I don't think so, as it could not be rangefinder-coupled.

Hi Chris
Yes, indeed, RF coupled is necessary for your camera.
Today I‘ve seen an advert for a nice lens. It is described as clean optics and smooth focusing.

An eBay seller in Japan accepted my offer for a Canon 100/3.5 LTM lens.
It came in well under budget - less than $100 shipping and tax included.

Like most examples of this model it exhibits a bit of internal haze.
Then again so do all of the $300 plus Voigtlander lenses I saw.

I had one (black barrel) with haze and it cleaned up nicely, easy to disassemble lens if you have a spanner wrench. I have a chrome and black one without haze, but it may have been cleaned before I got it. Both are great lenses.

Yes, most telephotos are of relatively simple construction.
I may still have a spanner wrench from my days at Olympus.
However my eyes and hands may no longer be up to such fine work.

If the haze is objectionable I may shop around for an inexpensive repairman for this inexpensive lens.

The lens arrived and under artificial light I did not detect any internal haze.
I will check again tomorrow in sunlight.

The finish is like new and lens still functions perfectly.
It is small and jewel-like, and beautifully constructed.

It reminds one of a Takumar lens from the same period.
