And that is why I am doing it; for the sheer enjoyment I get out of photography.
I'm not trying to make a living ( or even a quick buck), out of this.
PURE ENJOYMENT!!
( and I like the artist's salvation!)

?????

"I just shot my whole arguement right to hell"??????
In which way?
Doing photography IS very enjoyable to me.
I would imagine it is to...oh, I dont know....EVERYONE on this forum?
If it wasn't, why the hell do it?
And did I ONCE say I was trying to make a living out of it????
I like the artistic expression I receive, when getting that great shot, then enhancing it in Lightroom.
I love the creativity.
It is fun, enjoyable, peaceful.

The deterioration of critical reading skills is highly lamentable. Sometimes I feel like weeping.

But wedding photography isn't about the photographer, it's about the bride, the groom, and their families.

I'm not going to weigh in on whether or not you should shoot this wedding, it makes no difference to me what you do, but if you're doing it because you enjoy photography, I don't see that as a very good reason.

Best wishes, hope it all goes well and the bride is pleased with the results.

Take a deep breath there boyo, believe it or not, the people you are being snippy with are the ones giving you the soundest advice.
We are all people who do photography for enjoyment. I love photography.
I love being beside a burbling brook taking pictures of the water playing on the rocks.
I love lighting a pretty girl and then creating gorgeous pictures for her.
These are pastimes that are both peaceful and fun.
Wedding photography is not peaceful and has great potential to be anything but fun.

Some of us actually enjoy weddings, though. I might be a sentimental guy, but I tend to really connect with the B&G at every wedding I shoot, and I come away from every wedding feeling excited for the next one. Of course, some parts are more fun than others (I love the reception and don't care much for the formals) but in general the whole process is a great time.

Just because it is high-pressure doesn't mean it isn't fun, because some of us thrive in that environment. Also, I think it is always good to branch out and try new avenues of photography if the opportunity presents itself.

However, I don't think anybody in this thread is being malicious - their opinions might differ from the OP, but the OP shouldn't get too bothered by it. Everybody is telling you what they think, and just because they disagree with you (or me) doesn't mean that they are wrong or trying to be mean.

On the other hand, it seems that you just like to antagonize someone starting out. Is this what you are like in public? Must be a hell of a fun guy to hang out with. If you are indeed trying to get me depressed, good luck. I never have a battle of wits with an unarmed man.
PLEASE dont reply; it bores me.

Mr Wheatfield; after re-reading the posts, I realize it was Mike Cash, not you, who made the "holding breath" comment.
I apologize.
Just shot yourself in the foot there in your battle of wits....

Wedding photography is a real alternative to relaxation techniques like meditation.

Do try to not let your ego get in the way of people's advice here. We all mean the best. How you respond shows your maturity and intelligence.
