I've taken a few good rain shots, sort of by accident, but made note of what I was doing. All good ones so far were taken with my DA *200mm with fill-flash, 180th sec., tripod, f-2.8. Flash illuminates the drops and this shutter speed makes short streaks that look like rain. Most notable example is "Cowbird In The Rain" in my Non-Game Birds gallery on my website.

The only time I took images of rain was when it was torrential ... and then you get rain no matter what ... although I was shooting more the water coming off the corrugated roof more than anything ... and of the ground around me flooding ... also the back of the ute flooding as well.

I'll try and find them and post them up ... I had nothing else to do ... was stranded in a caravan park/cabins on holidays on the coast.
