Was tricky shooting today, no tripod and wind gusts 20-40mph.

might want to try a free photo editor like GIMP or Picassa.

I dont know how the scene was like but reducing the blues and bumping up the rest gave me this.

So was it close to what you saw or something else?

I have photoshop, just don't really know much about using it yet. I am setting aside some good ones that I want to pp. Then after I get down the basics of my camera and finish Understanding Exposure, I will start learning Ps and do some pp.

I've been doing pretty good so far, posted some of my photos in the other forum if anyone is interested.

However, next week, my son plays at 7pm. Whole new situation here for me, shooting under the lights. I have had serious trouble shooting outdoors once it starts getting dark, so I need some big time help here.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

all depends how strong the flood lights are.

at F/5.6, you would need really strong flood lights. F/2.8 plus the kx iso would give adequate shutter speed.

If its a real important game, might want to rent at least a Nikon D200 with 80-200mm f/2.8 to and let the motor do the work. chances are one or two of the frame will be tack sharp.

Thanks for the response. There is no way for me to rent anything, as there are no camera stores in my area, and no time to do it online by tomorrow night. There is a chance of rain so that my solve my dilemma if it rains. If not, I will at least take it and try. Any suggestions for settings? I really struggle with action once dusk hits. Still learning settings. Thanks!

nothing much you can do other then before/after portraits or snapshots when things slow down because you will need a minimum shutter speed to somewhat freeze things during the game. Slower then that would be "creative blur" to put it nicely.

bump the iso up as high as you can go, 1600 to 3200 . open aperture up as much as possible. If all else fails find the best lite area of the stadium (field) and hope for the best. You can also use a flash, but limits there also.
I suffer in all my sons home soccer games, poor poor lighting conditions.
Not bad here action right in front of me. not my son by the way.

More distant action here. my son #6

Good luck shooting.

Thanks, I'll let you know how it goes! Of course it is a big game against our biggest rivals! Maybe I should leave the camera home and just cheer like crazy!
