Originally posted by cautious On my K10D, When I shoot 7 pictures continuous RAW, it takes twice as long (24 secs) to save on an 8 GB class 6 SDHC 2.0 as it does (12 secs) a 4 gb class 6 sdhc 2.0 and even less, 9 secs on a 2gb SDHC card. Why? Is the camera bad? Or the K10D firmware? I have version 1.30 firmware loaded.
The "Class" number is the
minimum sustained write speed. So not all Class 6 cards are equal. Some are significantly faster than others. The fastest SDHC cards you can buy right now is Sandisk Extreme III and ATP Pro Max. Their sustained (not burst) write speed can be up to 20MB/s, which is over 3x the minimum specs of Class 6 (they could call themselves Class 20 is there is such a category
).
So your 8GB card is simply slower than your 4GB ones (assuming that both are not fake cards bought from ebay).
