But I'll bite anyway: I think an aggressively priced "645D for the rest of us" is more likely than a 24x36 camera, at least on a shorter timeframe.

Your guess is as good as anyone else's.

Just don't hold your breath over it.

I would never buy one if they made it. Big, heavy and clunky to hall around- the shear antithesis of why I choose to use Pentax gear.

Likely in 2011, but only if they sell many, many K-5 and K-r, and Canikon launches cheaper (less than 2000) FF bodies.

I think Pentax most likely would develop a FF body way smaller than the competition, no bigger than K20d.

We'll see.
Regards

But Pentax will be able to make one not larger than the K20D/K-7. That makes your statement false

This sounds about right. I don't think it's just a matter of making one. I think several variables have to align for them. The only thing I disagree with is 2011. I think 2013-2015 is more likely.

I think that the demand for FF is going to have to pick up considerably if we're ever to see a Pentax FF DSLR. If demand stays where it is now...no, I don't think Pentax will go FF. I know folks don't like to hear it, but I think Pentax views the 645D as their answer to FF.

NO
Market study presented by the Japan camera Industry Group indicate FF camera market share will go down in the next 3 years. No place for a new player
