Self Portrait: lens advice
Until now, all the photography books I've read focused on technique. They gave me tools and I am just now starting to try to use the tools to focus my vision.
I just picked up "Train Your Gaze" by Roswell Angier.
This book is different and has made me consider photography in a whole new way, and the creative idea's from first two chapters alone a very exciting for me.
Now I want to start work on a self portrait project.
I want to take pictures of myself under varying circumstances.
The one constant will be my position, and the position of the camera.
So all the photo's will be standing portraits taken at the same focal length, with the same lens, and the same distance to the camera and at the same height.
Here's where you can help. Out of my current lenses, which would you use for standing portraits?
I've seen 50-55mm mentioned as portrait lenses and 70-80mm range also mentioned.
If I want to be in the 70-80mm range I only have 1 choice
At 50-55mm I have three
-DA 18-55 II used at 55mm (not my main choice, but you may have insight I don't)
-SMC Pentax A 35-105mm f3.5 (many focal points possible)
-SMC Takumar 55mm f1.8 (i'm kind of leaning towards this, mostly because it has the biggest aperture)
I'll be shooting on my K10D for this project
