I just have quick question: I've always used pentax but I'm just wondering on Nikon's AF. Will the 39 points on the nikon be better then what the k-5 does.
I strickly mean in green mode - so if anyone (aka my husband) were to pick up a camera and use it in green mode - who's picture would be better?

ease of use, both would be equal since on full auto but the K-5 has added benefit of stabilisation with any lens.

picture iq would depend what lens was used.

picture quality depends on the skill of the photographer.

the thing about having 39 or a million focus points is just that how smart is the computer in guessing what you want in focus. A lot of users actually remain with centre AF throughout the life of the dslr.

If you want just to use the Green mode, you do not need to buy the K-5 , go with the K-R. A kit with the 18-55 and the 55-300 , will cost you around $1000 and will give you or your husband as much pleasure . Quality of photo are very good
