"so ur a pentax girl eh?"

Sent a picture of the K-r I want/am going to buy and he responded "so ur a pentax girl eh?". I've only had my DSLR since February but when he asked me that I paused for a moment and thought "i sure am!"; I told him "yup, i've fallen in love with the community." As a someone who never really intends to go much further than an intermediate level understanding of photography (its techniques/tools/etc) I probably could have picked up any DSLR and been perfectly content; however, I am so thankful that I randomly picked a used Pentax b/c I cannot imagine other brands have such an amazing community with which to ask questions (really stupid ones sometimes ) and learn from. Guess I just wanted to say "thank you" to all of you who make owning a Pentax such a kick a** experience

I'm a Pentax girl

Me too! A long time Pentax girl (well probably not so much girl as crone or something). Been shooting one Pentax or another for 28 years or so. So welcome to the Pentax Girls' Club.

One more here, though I will confess to a certain growing fondness for Yashica SLR's also. I still wouldn't put my FRI before my SPII, but I still like my FRI a lot. My Spottie is my darling though in terms of the SLR's and I'm really liking my *ist so far too.

Hide! Or they'll want to make a calendar!

And there I was, expecting to hear some kind of tale of brand-war silliness. Welcome.

Calendar discussions aside, to me picking Pentax means being clever, creative, different, and a lucid shopper not influenced my advertizement. And I'm proud of that

Yesterday, after taking pix of the Central Maine Community College's Veteran's Club's ceremonial Flag Raising, I went down to the Graphic Arts department to borrow a card reader so that I could pass the pix files along to our faculty person.

There I'm standing with my 3-weeks-in-hand red K-x dangling around my neck, when one of the students spots it and goes, "Is that the K-x or the K-r? ! ! " Next thing I know, she's digging into her bag, moving things around, while her classmates and professor keep saying, "wait for it. . . " Moments later she presents her 2-weeks old pink K-x camera.

So at least I now know there are two K-x owners in the local area.

^^^ love it! I honestly HATED the color pink until I became an engineer and had all variations of blue/black/gray surrounding me ALL the time lol I feel like I now have to make it a point to be just a little bit girly when I can and the easiest way to do that at work is with the color pink

Hee. I was never one for Barbie pink, myself. Hunter green is kind of flashy by my standards. I think I spent too much time trying to be taken seriously in the 80's to go for colored cameras, anyway.
