Blue Light At Night with FA 50 f/1.4

I am working on a L letter theme for next Wednesday ABC event that I participate in a blogging community and I pick Light and Neon Light for the theme to practice photography

I use Pentax FA 50 f/1.4
Thoughts on Pentax FA 50 f/1.4 - Hin's Tech Corner

Please comment which one you like better than the other.

I like #1 the best. I like how that first one is close-up and in sharp focus with the others in the background being out of focus. Very abstract. I really like that one! (#8 is too close to #1 to differentiate between.)

I like #1 the best as well. #8 is almost as good, but #1 has more of the same lights in the background just to the right of the first light - and to me that makes a big difference. #8 some of the lights off in the background are more hidden behind that first fixture.

First.. I don't find any of the images particularly interesting. Not saying they are out of focus or anything, just, they are not very interesting photos. Second, how does the 'theme, Letter L' fit into those photos? I think you would lose the contest based purely on the fact that you are not following the theme, no?
