K10D Videos

Questions regarding K10d videos on You Tube.

What is this K10d menu hack video all about?

YouTube - Pentax K10D HACKED - PL MENU

The K10d intro video by Pentax shows the person popping a 67 lens onto the K10d. He mentions having to put the focal length into the SR Menu. Is this only required for manual PK/M42/67 lenses?

What if you use a manual PK/M42/67 zoom lens with SR enabled?

I assume focal length entry is not required when using digital specific lenses?

Thanks.

Sorry nobody has responded to your post until now, Takman. Anyway, the "K10d menu hack" video you linked to appears to be just someone going through all the normal K10D menus. I don't know what the purpose is, and the video certainly doesn't explain it.

And, yes, the focal length has to be entered manually only with lenses which don't automatically send focal length information to the camera. These includes older manual focus KA series lenses, certain A series lenses, and screw-mount lenses. Newer lenses, such as the DA, DA*, or FAJ series lenses (or D, FA, KAF2, F, and A series with an "A" on the aperture ring), will typically communicate focal length information automatically.

Will the K10D know the focal length for nonPentax Lenses?

Will the K10D recognize the focal length of say the Tamron 75-300 di automatically, or will that information have to be input manually?

Thanks

Of course, I can't personally guarantee any specific lens will work. But, since the Tamron Di series are relatively modern digital lenses, they should communicate automatically with the K10D. My old Tamron AF-28-300mm Di lens worked perfectly and so does my new Tamron 18-250mm Di-II lens. However, if you have any doubts, you can always contact Tamron directly with specific questions.

No problem with the Tamron Di LD 70-300.
