I have a M50mm 1.7 that works well on my K100d if this is of any help.

Regarding lenses, if you cant see a difference from the lens you have, then you just answered your own question. Dont buy a new lens, use the one you have.

I suggest you have a look at various photo fora, looking for photos in the protrait sections.

After viewing a lot of protrait images, post a few best protraits of your own in these fora. You will find out what you had missed out and how much you could really improve with the protraits using your current gear.

Seeing is believing.

Well then great! You just saved yourself hundreds of dollars

Seriously, if you don't know the difference between f/2 (or f/1.4) and f/5.6 (probably what your Tamron is at the long end), time to do some reading on the fundamentals of photography. Subjective image quality aside (sharpness, bokeh, contrast, colors, general rendering), there is a WORLD of difference between a fast 85mm prime lens and a consumer superzoom.

Any Pentax made 35mm format, 50mm lens will work on a k100d, some will require an adapter, however.

But, since you just write "50mm 1.4" Then I have bad news because I have a 50mm f1.8 that doesnt work with my pentax. The lens is a Nikon though......

If you want to know if and if, then how well, a given 50mm lens will work on a given camera, then you need to say which 50mm lens it is, not just that it is a 50mm.

Actually I think he did give a description of the lens he was looking at, when he mentioned the KAF mount.

Well KAF fits Pentax of course.

So if its a KAF it should be either F50 or FA50. It could say "fits KAF mount" and not "is KAF mount" tho. Still better to say which one it is.
