What I use to shoot weddings

People ask me over and over what gear they need to be a wedding photographer... so when I was getting ready for my last wedding I took a picture of my pile of gear as it was getting sorted (yes I have Eeyore on my sheets!!). This kit was for both me and my wife (shooting partner) and we were doing a fusion video product for the wedding as well so there was a little bit of extra gear. Also - this was a 12 hour day and obviously we were not carrying ALL the gear ALL the time. By the end of the day the only gear that had not been used was the IR camera (mostly overcast day) some of the spare batteries, and the Stofen Flash diffusers - although I ended up using the Fong Bong at the reception

Here is the breakdown.
Bodies
Canon 1DmkIII
Canon 5DmkII (video and stills)
Pentax *ist DS (IR converted)
Pentax K20D (stopped firing the flash during the reception )
Pentax K-7 (video and stills)
Canon G12 (video)

Lenses
Pentax 200mm F2.8 (its on the bed but it was left at home in the end)
Pentax 12-24mm (it was left behind also... but I really missed it for one shot during the day)
Pentax 50-135mm
Pentax 16-50mm
Pentax 43mm

Canon 70-200mm F2.8 (IS)
Tamron 28-75mm F2.8
Canon 85mm F1.2
Canon 35mm F1.4
Canon 135mm F2
Canon 15mm Fisheye

Flash
Pentax AF360FGZ
Canon 580exII
Canon 430exII
Canon 540EZ (left at home in the end)
Canon CPE-3 Battery pack for 580 flash
Zumbrella (shoot through umbrella for monopod mounted flash)
2x Pocket Wizard Flex TT5
2x Pocket Wizard PlusII

Misc
~100GB of memory cards
1 spare battery for every camera
1 spare set of flash batteries
Stofen diffusers for every flash
Gary Fong Sphere
TTL flash cord
Flash bracket
hip pouch for spare batteries, gray card, memory card and "shot list"

The stuff that is not in my kit yet!!
Mostly just the Pentax k-5 but a couple of new lenses would be nice too...
Pentax 77mm F1.8
Canon 50mm F1.2

That's a full kit mate, hopefully you don't throw your back out lugging that kit around so much.

That's not one full kit... that's 2 full kits for 2 shooters. Split it in half and remember that you don't need to carry ALL of it ALL the time. Its just a couple of cameras, a couple of lenses and a couple of flashes. Once you learn the process you will learn what you need and when you need it. I never have more than one small shoulder bag with me at any moment - and I don't usually need to carry that either.

Copy that.
My kit generally fits in one large shoulder-sling bag and one smaller carry bag, plus tripods, umbrellas and reflector. It's enough to drag me down. I'm thankful that lenses like the limiteds are so small and lightweight...
